Sotil Productions is an independent minority owned resourceful entertainment and production company established in 2000 with only one goal in mind: to transform, reinvigorate and restore the grandeur and majesty of old to the entertainment industry.
Currently, we are holding auditions for our upcoming productions of Smokey Joe's Cafe: The Songs of Leiber & Stoller, August Wilson's Jitney & Judi Ann Mason's Livin' Fat.
Synopsis
Smokey Joe's Cafe
Featuring nearly 40 of the greatest songs ever recorded, SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE isn't just great pop music - it's compelling musical theatre. We need 2 females & 3 males that are can sing and move well. Rehearsal will begin immediately with performances in April, June, July and August throughout TX.
Jitney
The first play of August Wilson’s 10 Play Cycle that illuminates the black experience in America during each decade of the 20th century. Jitney is set in Pittsburgh 1977 around a Jitney cab station. The owner's estranged son is coming home after 20 years in jail, but urban renewal may cause the station to be shut down. Filming on this project will begin 3/15/08.
Livin' Fat
While David Lee, a recent college graduate who's had to take a job as bank janitor is working, the bank's robbed by two white men in Batman masks. In their haste they drop a bundle, David picks it up it's $100,000! So he buys presents for the family and uses some of it to give himself a new start and to get married. When the family finds out where the money came from, their scruples are tested but they finally agree that the Lord works in mysterious ways and this time he's working for them. Filming will begin 3/17/08
